Gorman Ownership

Bill Gorman, who was the fourth owner, bought the homestead with his wife, Patti, and son, Ben, from a banker in 1987. At this point in time, the property had been severely neglected and required much work. The demand of the property resulted in a separation. Bill kept the property and raised his son there. He later re-married to Katherine. The repairing that homestead required was new plumbing and wiring, fixing and stripping floors, adding new windows, and redoing the main floor and upstairs of the main house; repainting, waterproofing, and repairing the doors and windows in the dairy; and painting and patching the barn, all of the sheds, and the outhouse. Various improvements were made to the property and included extending the kitchen, adding handmade cabinets to the living room and kitchen, planting innumerable trees for the windbreaks, setting up an extensive watering system, and planting fruit trees in the main garden area. In the 2000’s, Bill’s job required him to move from Wheatland to a different part of Wyoming. At this time, it was decided to sell the property. After the move, Katherine stayed behind to manage and monitor the selling of the homestead and its upkeep until they sold the property in 2012.
